iris: Literature and arts magazine
For three semesters, I had been honored to hold the role of Lead Design Editor for my school's literature and arts magazine: Iris. I was responsible for leading a small team of designers as we compile a 50-60 page publication showcasing the incredible written and visual talent my school has to offer. In addition to the covers, I designed many of the spreads and individual pages within the publication.
The Fall 2023 issue (left) had a theme of femininity, growth, and asserting yourself in defiance of what the world wants you to become. The visuals of the magazine were collage-like and had lots of floral elements. Our design team was relatively small, three people including myself, but we still managed to piece together a 52-page magazine with a turn-around time of roughly a week. The Spring 2024 issue (middle) had a theme that could best be described as "gilded dead nature vibes" with floral imagery, earthy colors, and ornate picture frames and gold leaf accents. Fall 2024 (right) shifted to a darker theme, with blood, death, and bones being prominent subjects throughout the issue.
The poetry, prose, and artworks on these pages are not mine, they belong to the many talented minds that exist at my university. But I designed the layouts, decided on fonts and colors, and created vector/illustration elements to accentuate the pieces.
